Senior Lab Technician

Summary: The Lab Technician is responsible for compounding samples, maintaining sanitation and organization of the lab, preparing finished products, conducting products analyses, recording pertinent data in computer systems, ordering and or picking raw materials from plant, manage sample shipping needs and assisting in production processing.
Requirements
Duties & Responsibilities:
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and multiple tasks, with ability to take direction from product developers, scientists, and supervisor is required.
Previous compounding and weighing experience required, with proven accuracy and strong attention to detail.
Experience with lab scales, kitchen utensils, mixers, and ingredients.
Ability to work accurately with calculations, such as ratios, decimals, percentages, etc., as related to seasoning formulae in a fast-paced, high-volume environment required.
Demonstrated data entry and basic PC skills, including Excel and Word required
Good communication skills, including written and verbal, required.
Proven ability to work within a team environment as well as the ability to work independently required.
Demonstrated problem solving skill required.
Comfort with food product preparations including tasks as baking, frying etc.
Must be capable of utilizing all senses required for the evaluation of, i.e. color perception, taste and smell. Physical requirements: Ability to lift 10 pounds continuously, 20 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to work overtime as needed is required.
There will be a 2–3-week training period in production.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, food science or related science preferred. High School graduate with strengths in science or math related fields or high school diploma required.
Lab experience required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a controlled laboratory environment
Ability work with a variety of food GRAS chemicals, flavor and other food product ingredients.
Frequently utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, mix and compound flavors.
Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
Frequently required to stand/walk
Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel and reach
Frequently required to lift/push/carry items up to 25 pounds.
Occasionally required to lift/push/carry up to 60 pounds.
